Nicolas Philibert's fascinating film charts the resurrection of hundreds of stuffed animals from their forgotten twilight zone.
Synopsis
Animals opens with a modern-day evocation of Noah's Ark: a lorry travels down a street in Paris, the heads of animals peeking out from its side... The Zoology Gallery of the National Natural History Museum was renovated in the early 90s after being closed to the public for a quarter of a century. Shot between 1991 and 1994, this strange and fascinating film charts the resurrection of hundreds of stuffed animals from their forgotten twilight zone.
